The role
Sunwater has a permanent opportunity for an Operator Maintainer, based in Mareeba, to be responsible for water distribution and system monitoring activities as well as maintenance, refurbishment and enhancement of infrastructure as required.
In this role you will report to the Operations Supervisor and will be required to schedule, operate and control water distribution. You will ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Environmental and WH&S requirements and relevant Sunwater policies, standards and business rules.
In addition you will:
- Undertake preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance work to the required standard and within the required timeframes, where required.
- Undertaking fault analysis and implementing solutions to operational and maintenance issues.
- Maintain surveillance of water supply infrastructure and provide feedback on asset condition and performance
- Procure or request the procurement of goods and services as required to carry out the work, through the approved procurement process.
About you
Sunwater are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work as a team member and build effective working relationships. You will have the skills to operate, or to rapidly acquire the knowledge and skills to operate, pump stations, water storages and distribution networks associated with bulk water supply to industrial customers. You will have a demonstrated ability to effectively carry out routine administrative tasks, including the basic operation of relevant computer software programs.
In addition, you will have:
- Trade certificate (highly regarded)
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain Certificate II and Certificate III in Water Operations and Dam safety training
- Class ‘C’ drivers’ licence
- Boat Licence highly desirable
- A level of physical fitness to work in confined spaces and maintain competency in confined space and rescue
