Ophthalmic Technician

Eastside Eye Specialist Care is an established, busy and growing Specialist Ophthalmic Practice in Carindale on Brisbane's east side.  We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, friendly and medically-minded technician to assist our doctors.

We train our staff to be “all rounders”, capable of assisting in multiple areas of the practice. We value a high level of customer service, focused on the needs of our clients that involves good communication and presentation. 

Attention to detail, efficiency and the ability to multi-skill with high volume tasks are the drivers for a successful candidate.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Set up and assist the Ophthalmologist in all aspects of patient care to enable efficient and effective patient management.
• Consultation with the patient to take a history and carry out screening tests.
• Assist the Ophthalmologist with minor procedures.
• Answer patient and staff queries.
• Maintain medical stock supplies.
• Assist with referrer education events (CPD).
• Admin assistance at times.

Success in application depends on the following:

1.  Experience in an Ophthalmic practice or other Medical Specialist environment or a medical/science background, familiar with medical terminology.

2.  Experience with medical software programs (VIP an advantage) and data entry

3.  Experience and knowledge with Medicare, Health Funds, DVA for patient billing

4.  Experience and knowledge with surgical bookings

5.  A positive and proactive attitude

6.  Exceptional attention to detail

7.  The ability to work as part of a team and autonomously

8.  Proven ability in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook

9.  Reliable, efficient and able to work under pressure

10.  Flexibility with start and finish times
