Coastal Eye Centre is a Specialist Ophthalmic Practice situated on the Sunshine Coast. We have 2 Ophthalmologists with sub-specialties in Retina, Cataract, Glaucoma, Ocular Genetics and General Ophthalmology.
We are currently seeking a Part Time applicant to add to our orthoptic team. If you like variety and the chance for development, we are currently seeking a highly motivated Orthoptist/Ophthalmic Technician/Ophthalmic Nurse to take on a challenging and high paced role.
This role is suitable for Orthoptists, biomedical science and nursing backgrounds, with a preference for proven experience in an Ophthalmology setting.
You will be working with highly regarded Ophthalmologists and will gain excellent training that will be invaluable to your growing career.
Roles and responsibilities:
To set up and assist the Ophthalmologist in all aspects of patient care to enable efficient and effective patient management.
Obtain medical history from patients, instill eye drops, use diagnostic equipment for various screening tests, and providing patients with education about conditions and procedures
Triaging referrals and the ability to be able to answer patient and staff queries under supervision of the Ophthalmologist.
Ordering medical supplies, ophthalmic supplies eye drops, medications, lens and special requests, and maintaining stock levels in treatment rooms.
Sterilisation and calibration of equipment
Ensuring all workplace environments maintain high level of cleanliness
Participate in creation of policies, procedure manuals and patient information
Help in areas of clerical and administration functions

Experience working in an Ophthalmic practice will be an advantage.
