About the Role

Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) sits within SA Health as South Australia’s most populated health network, servicing nearly 464,000 South Australians with sites including the Royal Adelaide Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and many more. Our consumers come from diverse backgrounds, being any users of the health service. These may include inpatients, outpatients, and other support services (Integrated Care, SA Dental, Prison Health Service, DonateLife SA, Imaging, Pathology, BreastScreen SA and Pharmacy).

You will provide high quality Orthotic and Prosthetic (O&P) direct clinical services for inpatients and outpatients of the Royal Adelaide Hospital. You will undertake assessment of a variety of clinical conditions, along with the prescription, modification and review of appropriate interventions. Engaging in productive interactions with patients and their families, you will keep abreast of new developments in O&P and contribute to the implementation of new interventions and technologies. Applying your clinical expertise to the delivery, development and continuous improvement of quality O&P services appropriate to the goals and expectations of the health service, you will problem solve at both a clinical and technical level, but with support from the more senior professional staff. As well as managing an independent clinical case-load on and off-site, you will participate in quality assurance, ongoing professional development and research activities within the O&P Service.

You will need to hold a degree or equivalent qualification appropriate for Orthotists and Prosthetists, and have experience in Prosthetics and Orthotics practice within a multidisciplinary setting. Working well as part of a team, you will be capable of working under pressure to meet set deadlines and demonstrate effective time management skills. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will equip you to interact effectively with patients and families from a diverse range of backgrounds.
