Job description

Do you want to do interesting, meaningful work that helps and engages with the world? To understand and address how climate change is affecting Pacific communities? To help protect precious ecosystems while benefiting the livelihoods of the people who live among them?

So do we.

At Live & Learn, we work directly with local people in countries across Asia and the Pacific to help build community resilience to the impacts of climate change, protect ecosystems and strengthen the connection between people and the places they live.

As Climate Resilient Islands Country Support Coordinator, you’ll work closely with Live & Learn country teams on the Climate Resilient Islands (CRI) program. This program is working with 65 rural communities across six countries to strengthen resilience to the impacts of climate change through nature-based solutions.

This role is a key part of that. As part of the Country Support Team, you’ll be overseeing program implementation, building relationships and working closely with teams and communities across those countries to work together towards improving Climate Resilience

Based in Live & Learn’s Melbourne office, you’ll get regular opportunities to travel internationally so you can build stronger connections with the people and places you’re working with!

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Support work packages through Program Management System (currently Asana) in line with the Inception/Project Design Document Report and all revisions to the program design.
  • Actively track and document activity progress through Program Management Systems tools (including Asana, mWater) and reports from Country Teams to provide quality quarterly and annual reports to donor.
  • Ensure that Live & Learn approaches and tools are embedded into implementation approaches.
  • Manage the coordination of allocated in-country activities and operations relating to the CRI program.
  • Support partnership arrangements with local Live & Learn offices, including escalation of risks and emerging issues as necessary.
  • Support as required with advisors for technical research/support/advice on nature-based solutions, indigenous knowledge, Climate Resilience and related fields aligned to the program.

Read more in the full terms of reference attached.

What you can bring to the position:

  • An ability to work flexibly and autonomously while working in an international team
  • An adaptive attitude to an always changing environment
  • A willingness to grow and learn from those around you - and help them grow and learn in return
  • Enjoyment of working closely with people from differing and diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working in the Pacific, with Indigenous peoples or within a development context
  • A desire to do interesting, evolving and - we think - pretty cool work every single day
  • An ability to travel extensively to the Pacific to learn from and support our teams and communities

What we will offer you:

  • Salary range: Coordinator (Level 4.1-4.6) AUD77,000- AUD87,000 excl. superannuation
  • Flexible working hours and locations, with the option to work from home 2-3 days per week
  • Access to salary packaging
  • Employment development opportunities

If this sounds good, we would love to hear from you. Submit your resume and cover letter through the link below, or get in touch with Felicity Mascetta on ***************@livelearn.org if you have any questions. Applications are welcome until Friday, 14 June 2024. We will review applicants as they are received.
