  • Full time, Band 6 ($88,168 - $104,466) + Super + Monthly ADO 
  • Hybrid work model, Officer location

About the role 

You will lead the delivery of strategic and operational programs that enhance Cardinia Shires capacity to respond to Climate Resilience across its operations and services. 

What you will deliver 

  • Take direct responsibility for the delivery of Councils Aspirational Energy Plan and Climate Change Adaptation Strategy. 
  • Provide advice and support on improvements to energy management and greenhouse gas emission performance. 
  • Lead and oversee the carbon management and inventory in-line with national legislation and standards. 
  • Design and deliver climate change adaptation, resilience and energy efficiency projects, initiatives and programs. 
  • Lead and oversee Councils carbon management and inventory including data management, tracking, compilation, calculations and oversee verification of the Shire’s environmental performance. 
  • Maintain a sound understanding of best practice renewable energy technologies and Climate Resilience and identify opportunities in Cardinia Shire. 
  • Work with partners, in particular the South East’s Councils Climate Change Alliance to deliver practical projects. 
  • Keep up to date on policy, legislation, and regulations relevant to the requirements of the position. 

 What you will bring 

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental engineering, science, environmental planning, carbon management and/or environment related discipline are desirable. 
  • Previous experience and demonstrated technical knowledge of energy efficiency, renewable energy, carbon emissions management, climate change adaptation and resilience may be an advantage. 
  • Experience in policy or strategy development, implementation (oversight), monitoring, review and reporting. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and oversee project implementation. 
  • A collaborative, innovative and future focused community mindset.
