About Us:
Established in 1945 from one man, one paddock, to the fourth generation - The Mackay Group is Australia’s Leading Banana Grower. From planting the first crop of bananas over 75years ago the farming business has expanded to produce bananas, papaya, sugarcane, cattle and avocados. The business is now directed by the family’s 3rd generation and the company employs 600 staff across 9 locations stretching from Cooktown to Melbourne. In more recent years this vertically integrated business has expanded into ripening and processing of produce.
Mackays Group is an approved employer under the PALM scheme. We currently direct hire over 200 employees from the Pacific Islands. In this role you will be responsible for providing a point of contact, support and assistance for our Pacific Workforce team members in the Tully region.
Roster: Rotating roster Monday-Friday / Tuesday – Saturday. This position is not your typical 9am to 5pm role. Flexible working hours and days (including weekends) will be required however we can offer flexibility with your working arrangements also.
Location: Tully Office plus travel as necessary
Reporting to the Pacific Workforce Coordinator, your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining trust & strong relationships with the PALM Scheme workers.
- Serving as a point of contact for all worker enquiries/matters.
- Identifying issues and ensuring timely business centred solutions are implemented.
- Arranging the arrival, induction, and departures of the PALM Scheme workers. This can include additional hours/days of work during peak times.
- Assisting workers with access to services required (e.g. medical).
- Administrative tasks as required, including timely responses to emails, & ensuring all employment documents are recorded appropriately.
- Act as an advocate within the community for the workers and the program.
Skills and Competencies:
- Experience in a similar role not required
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills desired
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines
- Great communication & teamwork skills however, the ability to work autonomously when required
- Strong attention to detail, thoroughness and problem-solving skills
- Open Drivers licence essential (MR or HR licence desirable - training will be provided)
- First Aid Certificate essential (course will be provided if certificate not already attained)
