Established in 2002, our client is a leading Australian fruit packer based in Mundubbera, QLD. They have a strong reputation for packing high-quality grapes, citrus, and mango for both export and domestic markets. Utilising the latest packing technology, they are committed to continuous improvement and have a safety-driven culture.
They are also experiencing considerable growth (currently packing circa 50,000 bins per season), hence being on the hunt for an experienced Packing Technician / Packing Operator to play a critical role in maximising and improving their production capability and quality.
Your Role
As the Packing Technician / Packing Operator, you will be accountable for the smooth and efficient operation of all machinery and computer systems in the packing she during fruit production seasons.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all fruit is packed to the highest standards to meet and exceed customer expectations.
You will work closely with Quality Assurance and Grading Supervisor to effectively manage the distribution of dispatched orders from receipt to the cool store, through pre-arranged crates to loading for delivery to clients' sites in a safe and efficient manner.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to –
- Manag daily production plan and ensure pre-production preparations are complete.
- Operate and monitor machinery, including troubleshooting and stopping/starting when needed.
- Manage computer systems, loading programs, and ensuring labellers are set up correctly.
- Control individual equipment speeds and monitor MAF Packing systems.
- Perform regularly scheduled maintenance and machinery cleaning (load cells, graders, labellers).
- Train staff on control room operation, cleanliness and sterilisation of graders and equipment.
- Work in collaboration with the Operations Manager for continuous improvement.
Adaptable, hands-on, and detail-oriented, you should have exceptional attention to detail and experience in a similar role. With strong communication skills, you are a team player who can easily work with a diverse group of people.
Possessing a background in operating and programming packing shed systems; you are a quick learner in a fast-paced production environment. To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- 2 + years experience in operating COMPAC or MAF packing systems (preferred)
- Knowledge of various fruit grading standards (mango, citrus, kiwi or similar)
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform under pressure
- A commitment to Safety, OH&S procedures
- Knowledge of the latest optical sorting systems will be highly regarded
