Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Permanent Full-time Packing Operator at our Mackay Port Packing facility.
Join one of Australia's most iconic and reputable food manufacturers where you'll be at the heart of our packaging process, operating machinery efficiently and ensuring smooth warehouse operations. This is a key role within our Production team, where your duties will include packing, maintenance support, plant cleanliness, and performing ship loading activities.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Operating packaging and bagging machinery efficiently.
- Undertaking warehouse and dispatch tasks.
- Providing maintenance support for packaging and palletising equipment within competency.
- Ensuring plant cleanliness and dust control.
- Performing ship loading duties including connection, disconnection, and Citect control loading.
- Maintaining shift logs, reports, and pack sheets.
- Liaising with maintenance for troubleshooting and basic repairs.
- Identifying process efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
- Contributing to waste minimisation efforts and ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards.
This position involves 12-hour shifts on a rotating roster, requiring flexibility from candidates.
What we're wanting you to bring to the table:
- High School Certificate with basic numerical and verbal skills.
- Forklift license required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility with shift work.
- Previous experience in food processing and operational environments desirable.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling and heavy lifting tasks (up to 25kg).
- Effective communicator with strong problem-solving skills.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in similar industrial roles, machinery knowledge, and proficiency in computer systems. Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to safety, and sound decision-making abilities are essential in this role.
