Join Skout Solutions in supporting Ventia’s Defence contract as aPainter. Our Amberley workshop staff safely looks after the maintenance and repair of vehicles, plants, and equipment. This includes abrasive blast cleaning, spray application of protective coatings, paint inspection and preparation of Job Analysis worksheets.
This casual role offers the opportunity to work in a specialised workshop fitted out with a variety of Defence equipment and Defence vehicle fleets including Light, Medium & Heavy Road transport vehicles (Armoured vehicles including PMV Bushmasters, M113 Armoured Personnel Carriers, ASLAV’s, M1A1 Main Battle Tanks and M88A2 Hercules Recovery Tanks).
This position would suit a person who is responsible and has a safe approach to each task, either physical or administrative and is open to working on a casual assignment with a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and report technical inspections and work orders/job cards to a high standard whilst following safety policies and procedures
- Abrasive blast cleaning
- Prep and prime surfaces
- Mix/match paint, apply finishing coats using paint guns
- Treat vehicles with rust-proof chemicals
- Maintaining housekeeping of the workshop area
- Correct storage, handling and disposal of chemicals and associated waste.
Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge
- A “hands-on” proactive attitude
- Must have experience in ‘2 pack baked enamel’ spray painting and grit blasting
- Can work in full protective coveralls grit blasting suits and positive pressure masks
- Basic knowledge of the use and removal of hazardous materials
- Ability to learn and use software systems
- Current driver’s license
