The Palliative Care Ward at Townsville University Hospital are seeking experienced and client focused Palliative Care Volunteer Coordinator for a permanent part-time role, working 64 hours per fortnight.
As a member of the Townsville Palliative Care team, recruit, train and supervise voluntary workers for the provision of support to Palliative Care patients and their families within the hospital and community.

Role responsbilities
- To recruit, screen and orientate new volunteers to provide support to Palliative Care patients and families.
- Coordinate specific training courses and where appropriate facilitate ongoing education of volunteers.
- Develop and maintain a record keeping system including rosters, reimbursement claims etc for the volunteer group.
- Coordinate placement of volunteers with clients and carers.
- Regular engagement with Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital Foundation on areas of mutual collaboration.
- Work with Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital Foundation to develop campaigns specifically aimed for Palliative Care Services.
- Engage with Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital Foundation around fund raising and donations.
- Manage documentation in relation to the Palliative Care Trust Fund.
- Coordination of Ambulance Wish Queensland Program.
- Make recommendations and develop policies and procedures for the volunteer program.
- Assist with Palliative Care specific projects.
- Provision of executive support for Palliative Care meetings where appropriate including minute-taking and general secretarial function.
- Participate in the development, implementation, review and maintenance of internal systems, process and work practices relating to outreach Palliative Care Services. Identify and report areas of improvement to existing practices.
- Carry out other delegated duties to support the effective operations of Palliative Care as directed.
Generous remuneration package value up to $70,945 p.a. comprising:
- Salary rates between $44.47 - $49.00 p.h. (AO4)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate orientation and ongoing training programs for volunteer workers.
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office and ability to acquire knowledge of other computer programs.
- Ability to network and liaise with all divisions within the hospital and with relevant community groups, services and agencies in the provision and development of services.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, supervise and manage volunteers in line with quality human resources management practices with reference to employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
