Who we are:
Global Creatures is an Australian enterprise, headquartered in Sydney, with additional offices in New York and London. We develop and produce ground-breaking live theatrical productions – most recently Moulin Rouge! The Musical, winner of 10 Tony Awards and the first Australian produced musical to originate on Broadway.
Other original Global Creatures productions include King Kong; Muriel’s Wedding The Musical; Strictly Ballroom The Musical; and Walking With Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular.
The team and role:
Our productions are founded on the acquisition, management, protection, and use of various IP rights in artistic and creative works.
The Legal and Business Affairs team plays a pivotal role in our enterprise. Working with our Head of Legal and Business Affairs and our Senior Lawyer, this role is responsible for:
- Assisting the team in developing and maintaining legal policies and procedures to ensure our operations are conducted efficiently, including:
- managing task lists for the Legal and Business Affairs team
- maintaining contract approval and execution processes
- maintaining contracts registers and databases
- preparing and maintaining internal legal summaries
- preparing and maintaining template contracts
- responding to licensing requests
- assisting in creating and maintaining legal ‘rights’ summaries
- assisting in administration of royalties for our productions
- Assisting in supporting other departments by communicating legal and contractual requirements
- Assisting in executing the group IP strategy.

Selection Criteria:
We’re looking for a Paralegal or new Graduate Lawyer:
- with some previous experience working with contracts, royalties administration, rights management or IP (desirable, but not essential);
- with a keen interest in working in-house in the entertainment industry and a thirst to learn more about the live stage production business;
- who has excellent communication and organisation skills and attention to detail;
- who is able to think critically and laterally to identify issues and develop practical solutions;
- with a ‘can do’ and collegiate manner who is able to build good working relationships with others;
- who has excellent aptitude with Microsoft 365.
