Expression of Interest: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker with a focus on adult learning to join our team. Key Responsibilities: As a Disability Educational Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
Providing personalised support to adult learners with disabilities, both in traditional classroom settings and through online or distance learning platforms.
Collaborating with instructors, facilitators, and other support staff to develop individualised learning plans that accommodate the unique needs and abilities of each learner.
Assisting adult learners with understanding course materials, completing assignments, and accessing necessary resources and accommodations.
Creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where adult learners feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
Employing a variety of teaching techniques, adaptive technologies, and assisted devices to facilitate learning and maximise accessibility for all learners.
Monitoring learner progress and providing regular feedback to instructors, program coordinators, and other stakeholders.
Advocating for the needs of adult learners with disabilities and ensuring they have equal access to educational opportunities and resources.
Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you should possess:
Previous experience working with adults with disabilities in an educational or training setting. (desired not essential)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust.
An understanding of various disabilities and the challenges faced by adult learners with disabilities in educational settings.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support adult learners in achieving their educational and personal goals.
Adaptability and flexibility in responding to the diverse needs and learning styles.
