Patient Services Officer (Medical Secretary)

Our Specialist practice, is seeking a Patient Services Officer (Medical Secretary) for our rooms located in Cairns City, which are supported by our head office in Brisbane.  The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic work environment where teamwork and delivering service differently is the key to success.

This permanent full time role (38 hrs/week), is generally Monday to Friday at a competitive hourly rate offering job security, excellent work/life balance and career progression for the right candidate.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide excellent service to our patients and outstanding secretarial support to our surgeons as a member of a friendly and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities of the role will include:

• Answering incoming calls to respond to queries and make clinic appointments
• Theatre bookings and liaison
• Correspondence and patient enquiries
• Billing and receipting
• Front desk duties during patient clinics 
• Liaison with our Brisbane Head Office

Essential skills required:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a computerised Specialist Medical Practice (experience in a group practice will be highly regarded)
• Experience in use of medical software (Genie an advantage)
• Excellent customer service skills
• Polite and professional telephone manner
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• High attention to detail
• Knowledge of Medicare and Health Fund billing protocols
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment
