The Anglican Schools Corporation operates 18 schools across NSW with a vision of "Serving Christ by equipping students for His world” whilst providing affordable, quality Christian education. 

Our Group Office, located in Hurstville, is responsible for the delivery of shared services, including payroll and HR support, to our staff and schools.

The Anglican Schools Corporation is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to work in all aspects of the end-to-end payroll process with accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. The optimal applicant will possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of  years of end-to-end payroll experience in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail, proficiency in payroll software, and excellent communication skills are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to upholding Christian values, as The Anglican Schools Corporation is a Christian organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end payroll process for our employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Process payroll transactions, including salary payments, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and taxes, using payroll software. Please mention which specific payroll software you have used in your application.
  • Review and reconcile payroll reports, employee data, and tax filings to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve payroll-related issues, answer inquiries, and provide support as needed.
  • Stay updated on relevant payroll legislation, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Lead and mentor junior payroll staff, providing guidance, training, and support to foster professional development and growth.
  • Participate in payroll-related projects and initiatives, such as system upgrades, process improvements, and implementation of new payroll functionalities.
  • Participate in the implementation of a new payroll system.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred but not essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing, with a proven track record of managing large-scale payrolls in a fast-paced environment preferred but not essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Leadership qualities, including the ability to mentor and coach junior staff.
  • Practicing Christian, active in local church and able to provide a Minister’s reference.
  • Experience in education would be considered favourably but is not essential.
  • Can demonstrate a humble approach to your work and dealing with staff.

Payroll Systems Experience:
