About the role
This position plays a key role in proactively facilitating and supporting the delivery of the People and Culture strategy and framework and working collaboratively across Council to champion our purpose of Growing Townsville and to deliver the Corporate Plan in consultation with the Townsville Community. This position is accountable to the General Manager People and Culture and will be focused on the needs and aspirations of the Townsville community; growing and managing customer relationships, developing a culture of customer-centricity and personal accountability; and reshaping how we deliver services to maximise value.
This position will educate, influence, guide, coach and collaborate with internal stakeholders and shares responsibility for the delivery of all human resource, workforce planning, diversity and inclusion strategies within council. This position will work collaboratively and constructively with managers to ensure council attracts and retains a professional, responsive, highly skilled workforce which meets current and future business needs; this will be achieved through the provision of high level, strategic, professional, informed advice.
About you
- Qualifications to a Bachelor level in Human Resources, Business, Law or similar relevant qualification/equivalent knowledge or experience.
- Proven experience (4+ years) in a HR/ER Business Partnering role within a diverse multi-disciplined organisation.
- Knowledge of contemporary human resource management practices, interpretation of legislation and industrial instruments and demonstrated ability to apply these to a broad range of HR issues in a complex environment.
- Proven ability to educate, influence, coach, mentor and forge strong stakeholder relationships based on the provision of informed, sound advice that builds an environment of trust and respect.
- ER Case management experience (including non-work related injuries) including utilising systems to record and track cases.
- Experience in interpreting awards and position descriptions for the evaluation of roles.
- Demonstrated exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills which effectively deliver strategic advice to a broad customer group.
- Demonstrated personal resilience and self-awareness combined with business and financial acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to model the highest standard of ethical and professional behaviour and act with integrity and confidentiality whilst representing council internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to use HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications. Experience in developing/enhancing HRIS systems to drive business improvements.
- Demonstrated experience role modelling a positive safety culture and adherence to the Health Safety Management Systems through visible leadership and exercising due diligence and management of compliance and legislative obligations.
- Current “C” class drivers licence
