About the role

This position is accountable to the Chief Digital and Information Officer and will be focused on the needs and aspirations of the Townsville community; growing and managing customer relationships, developing a culture of customer-centricity and personal accountability; and reshaping how we deliver services to maximise value.    

Through an Information Management Framework, Council’s focus and aim is to continually improve our Information Management maturity to support effective connectedness in a way that is respectful to the customer and compliant with all requirements. 

The primary purpose of this position is to be a subject matter expert responsible for the design, implementation, and management of activities against the Information Management framework across Council. This includes using technology to analyse Council’s information landscape, identify risks and design the templates and processes required to support an effective and efficient implementation of the Information Management framework across a range of information assets.  

About you

Our ideal applicant will have:

  • Related tertiary qualifications in an Information Management related discipline. 
  • Relevant industry experience and a minimum of 5 years in a similar position, with demonstrated experience as an Information Management subject matter expert. 
  • A strong ability to contribute to the definition and implementation of activities against an Information management framework. 
  • Strong understanding of IT architecture and requirements for Information Management solutions. 
  • Ability to define requirements for Information Management technology/process, and address needs in partnership with the business to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Information management framework. Experience developing and embedding Information Management policies, procedures, standards, and templates. 
  • Extensive knowledge, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge, related to Information Management legislation and requirements in a Local Government context, with a proven ability in interpreting technical information and translating appropriate to the audience.  
  • Demonstrated experience role modelling a positive safety culture and adherence to the Health Safety Management Systems through visible leadership and exercising due diligence and management of compliance and legislative obligations.
  • Experience in multi-faceted stakeholder management, with highly developed consultation, relationship building, communication and negotiation skills, and an ability to drive change with key stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex business and technology inhibitors in changing and evolving environments, with the conceptual and analytical skills to facilitate and propose innovative solutions and concepts. 
  • Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
