About Us:
Hervey Bay Surgical Hospital is a private hospital that provides surgical services with an 8 bed in-patient ward and day surgery, specializing in orthopaedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, urology and gastroenterology procedures. Theatre operates Monday - Saturday.
We are in the beautiful coastal city of Hervey Bay, South East Queensland with Fraser Island at our back door.
About the Role:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for Peri-operative Service Manager to join our professional team on a full-time basis.
In this role, you will be responsible for the management of pre-admissions, 2 operating theatres, 1 endoscopy procedure room, PACU and recovery, CSD and stores. You will be required to review and implement policies and processes, implement change and participate in continuous quality improvement in line with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS).
Our ideal candidate is an experienced perioperative registered nurse who is motivated, works well within a dynamic team environment and who actively contributes to achieving optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Day to day management of staff
- Expert resource/go-to person
- Managing theatre lists
- Communicating directly with the surgeons, anaesthetists and their rooms
- Planning, implementing and evaluating practices
- Participate in the hospital accreditation process
- Theatre stores inventory, stock take and ordering systems
- Orientation/education of new staff members
- Staff rostering and daily allocations
- Participate in the on-call sick leave phone roster
- Hands-on nursing, meal relief and sick leave cover
- Must be flexible to work Saturday on the floor if required
Skills and Experience:
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
- Unconditional registration with AHPRA..
- Previous or current clinical practice within the peri-operative environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage resources and experience in implementing sustainable change.
- Demonstrated ability to review, implement and evaluate Quality Improvement programs.
- Condition of employment - evidence of vaccination against Preventable Diseases prior to employment -Hepatitis B, MMR, Pertussis and Varicella.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Recent experience in a management or acting management position or equivalent
