AddressSTS Leeuwin II is Western Australia's only sail training Tall Ship vessel. Working to inspire and challenge young people, Leeuwin is a highly regarded and internationally recognised not for profit company.
Leeuwin is seeking to recruit a qualified cook(s) for relief swings and permanent basis.
Success in the role:
You will be a self-motivated, highly organised cook with excellent time management skills. You will be prepared to work closely with your colleagues to ensure program schedules are maintained on board.
Your duties will include:
The Cook is required to provide breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner (including dessert) for the duration of each voyage (3-8 days). The Cook is responsible for:
- Preparing a meal for a maximum of 55 people each day, generally over two sittings - one menu choice + vegetarian option if required
- Providing end-to-end food service
- Stock ordering and control
- Victualling budget management
- Management of galley (kitchen) equipment
- Ordering non-food stores (paper and cleaning goods)
- Maintenance of hygiene standards in food preparation and storage areas
- Logging of garbage waste at sea
- Health and well-being of crew, volunteer and youth trainees including addressing dietary requirements (allergies and intolerances)
- Emergency duties as detailed by the ship's Master
The cook is assisted on board by a Leeuwin Ocean Adventure volunteer cook's mate.
