Job description

We currently have a new and exciting new opportunity for an experienced Permit Coordinator to join our Engineering and Asset Management team at Melbourne Airport.

The Permit Coordinator will provide a key central support for Melbourne Airport’s staff, service providers and contractors through the coordination and management of the Melbourne Airport’s Engineering permits and access application process in line with Melbourne Airport’s Security and Safety Management System requirements, and applicable Work Health & Safety Regulations.

The role will support the delivery of safety in Engineering & Asset Management through assisting with; On Air Notice reviews, incident reporting, asbestos register management and delivery of safety improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that effective control mechanisms are in place (Permit) to meet regulatory, security and safety requirements of the airport including hot work permits, fire isolations, penetrations/excavations, electrical cabling, valve isolations, electrical isolations
  • Administration of permit applications in a timely manner and customer focused manner.
  • Deliver efficient and effective Access Control services that support superior customer experience and operational excellence across the airport for restricted areas and controlled spaces, including confined spaces.
  • Review of relevant inductions/training modules where applicable to Engineering & Asset Management permits and access
  • Review On Air Notices for impact to asset management and maintenance activities, consult with asset owners and liaise with relevant project managers within the required timeframe to reduce impact to operations.
  • Deliver and drive improvements in safety as identified in safety initiatives and review of safety incidents.
  • Review of relevant permit/access induction/training modules

The successful candidate will have:

  • Permit management experience gained in a controlled environment
  • Practical understanding of access control regulations and compliance requirements as they apply to the Airport
  • Demonstrated understanding of the relevant sections of Work Health and Safety Regulations and Australian Standards
  • Proven ability to drive performance improvement in an operational environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across a diverse range of both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across the business
