About the Role: The Permit Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager and collaborating closely with all project personnel. As a Permit Officer, you will:
- Liaise with specialized on and off-site contractor work crews, working closely with their supervision and management teams.
- Ensure that all project works are planned, permitted, and executed in alignment with Ampol standards.
- Assist with scoping and scheduling of project works to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Conduct on-the-job monitoring of safety, quality, and productivity to achieve project goals.
- Effectively communicate quality, safety, and job requirements to all contractors involved in the project.
- Drive compliance with Ampol's safety rules and processes to ensure exceptional safety outcomes.
- Lead safety initiatives in the field and model safety behaviors for others.
- Promote safety awareness and foster a safety-conscious culture within the project team.
- Develop daily job start packs to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Manage the induction process for consultants and contractors joining the project.
- Review and actively contribute to work methods, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), etc.
- Effective Permit Management:
- Receive permit requests for all project works involving a work crew of approximately 20 people.
- Review all work requests and provide clear instructions on work scope, site conditions, and site requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols during permit issuance.
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Essential:
- Trade qualification.
- Desirable:
- Operations experience.
- Trade, Distribution, Refining, or Engineering experience.
- Construction supervision.
- 2 years of oil industry or equivalent industry background.
- Demonstrated strength in stakeholder engagement on cross-functional issues.
- 10+ years working with behavioral-based safety systems.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Essential:
- Strong (verbal and written) communication skills, including facilitation skills.
- Well-developed analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Detailed knowledge of Ampol's safety policies and procedures.
- Capacity to motivate, influence, and persuade staff to work as a cohesive and productive team focused on achieving specified outcomes in a timely manner.
