Personal Care Assistant

The Organisation: Rural Care Australia (RCA) is a community-owned not-for-profit organisation dedicated to delivering services that support our community. 

We operate Chaffey Aged Care, a 100-bed leading provider of residential aged care in the Mildura Region, and Generations Early Learning, a 72 place long daycare service which is one of Australia’s first shared site Intergenerational Early Learning services and is collocated with Chaffey Age Care.

The Role:
The Personal Care Assistants (PCA) are responsible for the provision of high-quality care to all Care Recipients throughout the facility whilst ensuring their needs are met in accordance with their choices and the individual care plans. 

Our Personal Care Assistants are also responsible for: 

• Providing a high standard of care to our care recipients to enrich their daily lives and ensuring the social, emotional, spiritual, cultural and recreational needs of residents are met as per their preferences and their care plan.
• Assisting and supporting care recipients to maintain activities and and daily living whilst maintaining a high level of dignity, respect and comfort for our care recipients.
• Identifying and promptly reporting any alterations observed in care recipients health or well-being to the relevant supervisors such as the Registered Nurse in Charge and ensure accurate documentation is recorded.
• Ensuring a high standard of customer service including, presenting in a professional manner when interacting with care recipients, care recipients families, representatives and team members.

• Qualifications or studying towards  Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Ageing Support or Disability or other recognised care qualified in the Aged Care / Disability Sector.
• Aged care experience preferred but not essential.
• Unqualified Personal Care Assistant must have 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role (Residential Care / Disability / Home Care)
• Competent in the use of the Microsoft suite of software/industry-based software and an ability to quickly learn other software applications as required.
• Highly organised with proven time management skills and an ability to exercise initiative.
• Strong problem-solving skills are desired and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to respond appropriately to Care Recipient with physical and cognitive disabilities is desired.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and/or without direct supervision where required requested.
