Assisi Aged Care (Assisi) is a residential aged care service, located in North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne in leafy Rosanna. It was established as a not-for-profit religious and charitable organisation for Melbourne’s elderly Italian community and predominantly of the Catholic faith. Assisi is close to public transport and 30 minutes from the city.
The Role
We are looking for reliable individuals who are interested in joining a motivated and committed team on a permanent part-time basis to provide the very best quality Personal Care for our predominantly Italian resident population. Assisi have fixed rosters with options to accept additional shifts when they are available at short notice. Candidates must be able to commit to one of the fortnightly permanent shift profiles listed below:
a) NIGHT SHIFT - Mon, Tues & Wed 9.30pm to 7.30am,rpt week 1 & 2 (57 hrs/fn)
b) AM SHIFT only - Week 1 Mon, Thurs, Fri - 7am-3pm, Week 2 Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri 7am - 3pm (52.5 hrs/fn)
c) MIXED AM & PM - Week 1 - Thurs 7am-3pm; Week 2 Thurs 7am - 3pm, Fri 2.30 - 10pm (22 hrs/fn)
Additional shifts may be accepted when available.
Responsibilities include:
- Under direction of the Registered Nurse deliver care and services to residents that reflect their needs and preferences
- Support the independence, dignity and choice of residents in accordance with care plans.
- Documentation of care provided
- Working cooperatively with other members of the care team
Key Selection Criteria
- Certificate III in Individual Support or IV In Ageing Support
- Experience working in residential aged care
- Completion of a nationally recognised ‘assist with medication’ module
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Kindness and empathetic understanding of the needs of older persons
- Sound computer skills
- The right to work in Australia
- The ability to speak Italian is highly regarded
It is a condition of employment across the Aged Care sector to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 (3 vaccinations)
