A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas. About the Role:

This is a permanent Full Time role at 80 hours per fortnight within the Oncology Pharmacy Department of the Children's Cancer Centre.
Classification for this position will range from SX2 - SX5.

You will be responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to the Children's Cancer Centre including in-patient ward and Day Oncology Unit. You will also be required to participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical trials and other relevant projects as required.

What you'll achieve:

  • Experience in the provision of a clinical ward service, patient medication counseling, provision of specialised drug information, dispensing services for inpatients and outpatients, maintenance of oncology protocols in the EMR and aseptic drug preparation for cytotoxic and hazardous medications.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all patients/consumers and fellow health professionals; incorporate this to ensure effective and desirable outcomes for all, with a focus on patient safety.
  • Commit to maintaining professional membership to relevant organisations including the Children's Oncology Group and the Australia New Zealand Children's Haematology and Oncology Group (ANZCHOG).
  • Participate in the weekend and overtime roster, as required, and the on-call roster for the Oncology Pharmacy.

Your skills and experience:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Registered to practice as a pharmacist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency & name appears on the register of the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
  • Experience in paediatrics and/ or oncology hospital pharmacy services is desirable.

About the Children's Cancer Centre:

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Children's Cancer Centre (CCC) is the largest partner in the Victorian Paediatric Integrated Cancer Services (PICS) and is a member of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Care program. The CCC is the only provider of complex children's cancer care and stem cell transplantation in the state of Victoria. The CCC is recognised as an international leader in the research and treatment of childhood cancer, each year treating around 450 newly diagnosed cancer patients under the age of 18 and many children receive ongoing treatment and/or active patient follow up.

The CCC aims for the highest standards in diagnosis, research, treatment, and support. The CCC comprises: an inpatient ward with designated bone marrow transplant beds, a day oncology unit, outpatient clinic area including allied health facilities, a dedicated oncology pharmacy, a research program with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, a clinical trials office and an administrative centre.

As part of the Melbourne Children's the CCC has strong links and affiliations with the University of Melbourne, the Murdoch Children's Research Institute and The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation; as well as the wider community.

The CCC actively participates in cancer clinical trials and is a full member of the Children's Oncology Group (COG).
