St Vincent's is contracted by leading service providers MTC Broadspectrum to deliver health services to Parklea Correctional Centre - a major Sydney prison with capacity for 1,816 male inmates.

In 1838, when the Sisters of Charity who founded St Vincent's arrived in Sydney from Ireland, they immediately went to the Parramatta Female Factory, where they made an important difference to the lives of hundreds of women convicts there. Similarly today, St Vincent's Correctional Health aims to make a major difference by providing multidisciplinary healthcare to inmates at Parklea Correctional Complex.

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Parklea Correctional Centre Pharmacy.
The Pharmacy Assistant/Technician role will include the distribution and assistance in the preparation and dispensing processes for prescribed medications, managing medication inventory and ordering supplies. As well as pharmacy administrative work, including but not limited to; scanning scripts, preparing transfer medication pack and reconciling orders.
Applicant will be required to obtain a Corrective Service Clearance NSW to be able to take up this role.

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications in line with the The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations' Health Employees Agreement 2019 for either Pharmacy Assistant Grade 1/2 or Pharmacy Technician Grade 1/2 classification. For Grade 2 Pharmacy Assistant, applicant must hold a qualification in a relevant field recognised by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia or up to the level of Certificate III in Community Pharmacy issued by a Registered Training Organisation. For classification of Pharmacy Technician Grade 1, applicant must have successfully completed a qualification in a relevant field recognised by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia or up to the level of Certificate III issued by a Registered Training Organisation in Hospital and Community Pharmacy (e.g. Charles Sturt University). For classification of Pharmacy technician Grade 2 applicant must have successfully completed a nationally recognised Pharmacy Technician Certificate Course at Certificate Level IV issued by a Registered Training Organisation in Hospital and Community Pharmacy.
Demonstrated understanding and experience of dispensing/issuing of pharmaceuticals in a hospital or community pharmacy setting or equivalent experience with the willingness to work a rotating roster.
Demonstrated knowledge of legislative requirements relating to pharmaceuticals.
Attention to detail and accuracy in undertaking all tasks.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Demonstrated organisational skills and proven time management skills.
