We're looking for enthusiastic and motivated pharmacy students to join the team as a casual pharmacy technician.
Our pharmacy team will provide a supportive learning environment, enabling you the opportunity to broaden your understanding of the dynamic hospital pharmacy environment, allowing you to determine if you would like to pursue a hospital pharmacy internship.
You will be able to build your experience working in Victoria’s biggest public hospital pharmacy department, to develop your pharmacy skills and practice.

Working at Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital or other Monash Health sites
Play a key role in supporting the delivery of pharmacy services across Monash Health
About The Role
You’ll be primarily responsible for providing pharmacy technician services safely and professionally in a number of practice areas under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Your accountabilities may include:
Dispensary – assist with dispensing prescriptions, maintain stock levels within the dispensary, interact with patients, process patient payments
Pharmaceutical ward supply – work closely with the clinical pharmacy teams to manage and distribute appropriate levels of medicines (non-imprest and imprest medicines) and other products supplied by the pharmacy department
Work is mostly available on (shift times may vary from 3 hours to 8 hours):
Weekdays between 8:30am and 5pm
Weekdays between 12pm and 8pm
Weekdays between 5pm and 8pm
Weekends and public holidays between 9am and 5pm OR 12pm and 8pm
Available to work casual hours during weekdays, weekends and public holidays, with availability to work at least one shift per week.
About You
You are an undergraduate pharmacy student, ideally with experience working in a community pharmacy, looking to develop an understanding of the supporting roles in a hospital pharmacy. You can see yourself working as a hospital pharmacist in the future, would like to make connections that could benefit your career in this field and gain experience working in a large team.
You can demonstrate:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Able to work well with peers in a team environment and show flexibility and adaptability
Able to work with supervisors and take direction as required
Proven ability to perform community or hospital pharmacy assistant or technician duties to a high standard
Committed to continued professional development and training
What you need:
Evidence of your current enrolment into a pharmacy degree in Australia
Ideally, demonstrated experience as a community or hospital pharmacy student or technician in Australia
Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia membership (desirable)
Australian working rights

In addition, the recruitment process will include attendance at the Monash Health Pharmacy department two-day face to face seminar to assess the skills required to work in a hospital environment. Topics include:
Introduction to hospital pharmacy services
Inpatient medication supply and formulary
Antimicrobial stewardship
Dispensary services
The seminar will consist of presentations and workshops and will include an evaluation of skills. The seminar will run for two full days on Saturday May 20th or Sunday 21st and Saturday May 27th or Sunday May 29th 2023. Our final selection process will be based on your performance at the seminar. Applicants must be available to attend both seminar days.
Successful applicants will be expected to commence June 2023 and to facilitate on the job training you will be required to work at least three weekdays between the hours of 9am to 5pm.
