The head office and fundraising team are based in Surry Hills, Sydney so to be successful in this role you will need to be self-motivated, and very confident working and building internal relationships remotely. There will be regular travel to Sydney and regionally for donor meetings, as well as opportunities for your direct team to spend time with you in Melbourne.
The Role & Team - Philanthropy Executive, Major Donors

It’s an exciting time to join the Philanthropy Team at ChildFund Australia as they grow to 6 members. In this newly created role of Philanthropy Executive, Major Donors you will report to the Philanthropy Manager and work closely and collaboratively with a wider Fundraising Team of 20 people.
After a recent strategic review, there will be a stronger focus on philanthropy; major gifts, gifts in Wills (GIW), partnerships and institutional funding.
You will use your self-drive, energy and exceptional relationship skills to engage and further develop a large portfolio of high-value donors, possibly including some trusts, foundations, and corporates, with a focus on Major Donors. You will be a key contributor to ChildFund Australia meeting its ambitious public fundraising goals, in turn creating more impact in the lives of children.
With new philanthropy products and the flexibility to tailor and be creative with the offering to your donors, you can build truly personalised relationships.
In This Role You Will:
  • Prospect, qualify and build relationships with high-value donors
  • Manage the implementation of donor engagement and communication stewardship plans
  • Write compelling proposals that align program funding priorities with donor interests
  • Secure major gift donations confidently through face-to-face, phone and written engagement
  • Work with the Marketing team to develop effective strategies for engaging existing and potential donors
  • Ensure fundraising materials comply with relevant fundraising legislation and the Australian Privacy Principles
  • Assist the Philanthropy team with other initiatives to engage donors and increase Philanthropic income for ChildFund Australia
Your Skills & Attributes
  • Previous experience in a high-value new business development or relationship management role, fundraising experience highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, communication & active listening skills
  • Experience writing compelling documents designed to inspire and persuade
  • Experience with high-value products or high-net-worth individuals is preferred
  • You are a collaborative, relationship-focused team player
  • Analytical, with a well-developed understanding of how to utilise data and CRMs (Salesforce highly regarded) to improve outcomes
  • You are responsive to change
  • Passionate about international development & children’s rights

Although experience working within a Philanthropic environment is highly regarded, we are more focused on finding the right person to fit the team.
