Job description

You will be an experienced philanthropy fundraiser with demonstrated success in building relationships and raising six and seven-figure gifts from HNW/UHNW philanthropists. You will have the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a complex, multi-cultural environment. You will have a passion for the refugee cause and be highly motivated to grow our pipeline of U/HNW prospects and establish those relationships for A4U for the long-term.
Philanthropy Manager, Ultra High Net Focus

  • Full-time, permanent role (open to considering 0.8 / 09)

The Organisation – Australia for UNHCR (A4U)
Australia for UNHCR (A4U) is the UN Refugee Agency’s national partner in Australia, raising awareness and funds to support UNHCR’s global emergency response to humanitarian crises .
Established in 2000 AFU has raised an incredible $400m+ from individual donors, philanthropists, and corporates , leading to direct impact on the ground delivering emergency support such as shelter, protection, clean water, food and medicine. They directly fund international projects that support longer-term care such as building schools, running livelihood programs and providing healthcare.

The Role – Philanthropy Manager
The Philanthropy Manager is a portfolio-focused role with no direct reports. You will report to the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships and collaborate with the wider Philanthropy Team of 12.
  
The role of Philanthropy Manager will work closely with Executives, Board members and senior fundraising colleagues on a local and global level to develop and lift the value of existing relationships as well as working with the Prospect Researcher and wider team to identify new prospects. The role will lean more to new relationship development initially.  
  
You will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives to identify, cultivate, and solicit six to seven-figure gifts. This is where your experience and knowledge will shine.
  
The Board and Executive team believe in the opportunity presented by the creation of this new role, as a traditionally NSW-heavy portfolio it offers the opportunity to foster growth on a national level .

A4U offers hybrid working from the Sydney CBD office, they are also open to considering candidates from other states if all criteria are met and previous success working fully remotely can be demonstrated. Ideally, this role will be full-time, however, they can consider a 0.8 or 0.9 working model too.

Your skills and attributes:
  • Experience working in a similar role as a professional philanthropy/development fundraiser
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships and securing six and seven-figure gifts from HNW/UHNW philanthropists
  • The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a complex, multi-cultural environment
  • Extensive experience being self-driven to grow your pipeline of U/HNW prospects and establish long-term relationships for A4U
  • You will be caring and supportive and enjoy sharing your knowledge and experience to help develop team members and cultivate an internal culture of philanthropy
  • You are passionate about their critical refugee cause
