Are you serious about improving human performance and potential? Do you have a Diploma (AQF level 5) in the fields of sports science, exercise science, exercise physiology or alike from an Australian registered training organisation? Do you have two years qualified industry experience within the last five years and passion in the human performance domain? Are you at the peak of your physical fitness?
If the answer to all these are yes then working as a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) in the Air Force may be the job for you. Being a PTI is one of the more physically demanding and rewarding roles the military has to offer.
The most suitable candidates to become an Air Force PTI are those who regularly participate in higher level strength and conditioning training, team or individual sports and/or high level human performance coaching for teams or individuals.
PTIs are non-commissioned military members who are the Air Force's specialists when it comes to exploiting the full human potential of its workforce. They provide capability through the design, delivery and coaching of high performance strength and conditioning in order to enable Defence members to build physical and mental resilience by raising and maintaining their level of fitness.
The nature of duties carried out by PTIs requires the maintenance of very high levels of personal discipline and physical fitness. PTIs work in various environments delivering physical strength and conditioning training and recreational activities in Australia and overseas.
Some typical tasks performed by PTIs includes the design and delivery of:
Strength, conditioning, coaching and functional Physical Training
Injury prevention programs
Reconditioning and return to work training as a part of a rehabilitation team
Group and individual high performance strength and conditioning programs
Physical wellness education
Recreational and sporting activities
Delivery of mental wellness education
Adventurous training (abseiling, climbing etc) activities.
As a PTI in the Air Force, you will also be responsible for:
Conducting and reporting of military physical fitness assessments
Instruction of ADF Fitness Leaders (ADFFL) courses
Supervision, continued development and maintenance of technical competence of ADFFLs
Administrative and management duties that support the provision of PTI services and resources
Management and supervision of all physical and recreational facilities, equipment and services.
