About the role
The Australian Army employs registered physiotherapists in Army health units and Joint Health Command garrison medical centres. These officers form part of the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps (RAAMC).
Main Job Functions:
During your service you can expect a variety of employments which may include:
- Physiotherapy duties in a static deployed hospital caring for pre and post operative patients
- Physiotherapy of wounded and injured patients in a field hospital
- Rehabilitation support to patients after extensive surgery or illness
- Working with physical training instructors (PTIs) to support patient rehabilitation and conditioning
- Sports medicine physiotherapy, (ie sports injuries management and prevention), to units and Army sports
- Depending on postings, some physiotherapists may deploy with their units to remote and austere areas
