Our Gold Coast and Logan teams are seeking physiotherapists who value contributing to communities and creating sustainable outcomes for students with disability and school teams.
As a school-based physiotherapist you can influence a child’s achievement and develop your paediatric skills while being supported by local and statewide physiotherapists.
Your Opportunity:
The Department of Education employs over 120 physiotherapists to support students to be successful in all aspects of their learning. We use our knowledge and skills to enable students to be healthy and successful across the full range of school experiences. From the classroom and the playground, to school swimming, going on camp, or participating in sport, our physiotherapists are a key member of a student's educational team.
As part of the SER therapy and nursing service, the Loganlea, Coomera and Musgrave Hill teams supports schools in their local areas, using both in person and telepractice service to deliver equity and excellence. Therapists are based at a nominated location (see below), and provided services to a number of schools surrounding the base location.
The following positions are available for permanent appointment:
- Loganlea State High School 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week)
- Musgrave Hill State School 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week)
The following positions are available for temporary appointment:
- Musgrave Hill State School 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week) to 20/12/2024
- Coomera State School 0.6 FTE (22.8 hours per week) to 18/05/2025

Your Role:
- Build your knowledge of the physiotherapist role in supporting paediatric disability
- Develop educationally relevant goals with the student and their team
- Develop and deliver innovative evidence-informed services
- Provide professional development to teachers and teacher aides
- Contribute to regional and statewide physiotherapy teams

Responsibilities include:
- Forming strategic partnerships with schools, allied health professionals and families.
- Identifying, assessing and implementing physiotherapy services relevant to the education setting.
- Providing a consultative service to student's teachers, parents and wider team members
- Participating in specialised projects and sharing practices and resources with other physiotherapists within the department.
- Travel local to the base location is a requirement of the role
