We're currently in search of an enthusiastic Planning and Development Manager to ensure planning activities and assets developed by others align with the city’s Community Plan.The City of Palmerston is the second largest and fastest growing city in the Northern Territory, 'A Place for People'.
Position Summary:
As the Planning and Development Manager, you'll lead and coordinate Planning and Development activities vital to Palmerston’s growth and liveability. Working closely with internal teams and external agencies and developers, you’ll ensure all endeavours resonate with the city’s vision and goals.
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $130,000 - $140,000 per annum, plus superannuation
- Company vehicle with private use
- 6 weeks annual leave
- 3 weeks personal leave
- On-going professional development opportunities
- Provide leadership and direction to staff, stakeholders, agencies, and customers in line with Community Plan, to achieve Planning and Development outcomes. Represent Council at government-led and industry Planning and Development meetings and workshops.
- Provide team leadership and engage with internal stakeholders to provide advice, share resources, and coordinate information.
- Provide decisive leadership and a strategic, community focus to statutory planning responses, infrastructure acceptance and management.
- Prepare and present high-level engineering and technical expertise for the review of developments, private works, and other infrastructure activities.
- Develop frameworks, policies and procedures for Planning and Development activities that align with Council Policies, and other relevant standards, including the Northern Territory Subdivision Development Guidelines.
- Develop networks within the Northern Territory Government and other external stakeholders in relation to Planning and Development activities as they relate to Council.
- Ensure compliance with the Northern Territory Subdivision Development Guidelines, standards, legislation, and policies.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve complex planning issues efficiently.
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or equivalent, with relevant experience; or a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role with relevant Diploma level qualifications.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating subdivision development.
- Proficiency in statutory Planning and the Council's role within the Northern Territory planning framework.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adeptness at resolving complex issues.
- Effective collaboration skills with stakeholders for community-focused outcomes.
- Knowledge of current standards, technology, and design requirements.
- Excellent written communication skills for preparing complex correspondence and reports.
