About the role
An opportunity has arisen for a Planning Officer within Shire of Murray’s Planning and Sustainability team. The role will be a unique and interesting opportunity for planning professionals searching for a diverse and rewarding role.
The Shire is in the "Goldilocks Zone", the sweet spot that's not too close to the city, but not too far from it either. As a result, our population will almost quadruple over the next 30 years. To accommodate this growth sustainably, we are embarking on a range of exciting planning initiatives including a local planning strategy, a new planning scheme, district structure planning and precinct structure planning.
Reporting to the Coordinator Planning Services, you will be responsible for ensuring Council’s planning obligations are carried out in a professional and efficient manner. This will include working both independently and collaboratively on a variety of statutory and strategic tasks, underpinned with a strong customer-focused approach.
The position on offer is a permanent full-time role, working 76 hours across a current 9-day fortnight. An EBA Level 6 salary of between $78,294 - $83,473 per annum dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience will be offered.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will have tertiary qualifications in (or working towards) Urban and Regional Planning. Knowledge of planning principles and a demonstrated ability to apply these in a practical manner is essential and prior experience will be highly regarded.
Excellent communication, customer service and negotiation skills are inherent requirements, with the role expected to work autonomously under the direction of the Coordinator Planning Services.
