This position is based at Jindabyne NSW and is not a DIDO or FIFO arrangement.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Plant Engineer to provide engineering support to the Kosciusko Region. Based in Jindabyne, this role will assist in the identification of the root causes of defects and develop and implement immediate, interim and long term regional plant improvement projects and strategies. The successful applicant will also safely deliver the required availability and reliability of regional assets in the most effective and efficient way.
As a Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Performing troubleshooting and root cause analysis for plant defects and breakdowns on hydro turbine-generator units, station auxiliary equipment, hydraulic systems, gates and valves
Maintaining the availability and reliability of the Kosciuszko regional generating plant
Developing technical methodologies and instructions for planned maintenance and corrective work. Supporting the maintenance team with the execution of planned maintenance
Delivering discipline specific plant improvements including initiation, design, planning and minor project delivery
Preparing Quality Control, Commissioning and Inspection & Testing Plans for complex and non-standard work
Understanding the condition of regional plant and communicating key plant risks to relevant stakeholders
Working with relevant engineering teams to contribute to the development of the longer term asset strategy, maintenance strategy, and delivery of capital projects
Undertaking engineering level plant condition assessments
Performing analysis of plant performance and maintenance execution to identify and prioritise improvement and corrective work
Implementing maintenance plan improvements and initiating Maintenance Strategy changes as identified in Maintenance and Defect Root Cause Analysis
Coaching and mentoring graduates and vacation students
Leading by example when it comes to technical understanding, work management (e.g. work requests, knowledge capture) and following business processes (e.g. drawing management, change management, commissioning, risk assessment)
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Demonstrated experience in heavy industry, power generation or similar industries
Knowledge of maintenance plan requirements, analysis techniques and maintenance management practices including Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) processes
Demonstrated fault-finding and plant diagnostic skills including Root Cause Analysis processes
The ability to communicate with a range of personnel to provide a consistent, reliable and high level of technical advice
Onsite management and interaction skills to successfully supervise execution of maintenance and breakdown activities
A high level of enthusiasm for plant based engineering with specialist knowledge of operation and maintenance of hydro assets.
