About the role
EIRE is looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team to work in the Newcastle & Central Coast areas.

- Water and Wastewater experience
- RII Competency
- General Construction Induction card (white card)

The Plant Operator is responsible for:
· Daily prestart inspection of assigned earth moving plant and recording the result in the book provided.
· Attending daily pre-start and weekly toolbox meetings with other workers.
· Ensuring that tools of trade, issued PPE and safety equipment are maintained in a state fit for purpose by workers.
· Input into hazard identification and the risk management processes for WHS and environmental management.
· Advising site management of faults and breakdowns with the allocated machine immediately they are identified.
· Regular greasing and cleaning of the allocated machine.
· Refuelling of the allocated machine.
· Ensuring the safety and security of the allocated machine when it is not in use.
· Ensuring that the assigned earthmoving plant is serviced and maintained as per the OEM or as required by the company.
· Follow the safe systems of work as per the relevant SWMS.
· Work as directed by site management unless they think it is unsafe to do so.
· Providing feedback as required to site management on work activity progress, delays or issues.
· Adherence to WHS/QA and Environmental requirements, in particular, wear the correct PPE and abide by the relevant SWMS’s and ITP’s.
· Advise site management of any observed work practices or activities that they think are unsafe, pose an environmental risk or may result in poor quality construction.
· Report first aid treatments, injuries, illness and incidents to site management immediately they occur.
· Contributing to the WHS consultation process.
· Involvement in plant inspections and assist when asked.
· Carry out other tasks as reasonably requested.
This position reports to the Site Manager / Foreman / Leading Hand.
