This role performs the assessment of plumbing/drainage and trade applications, the inspection of plumbing/drainage and trade waste installations and investigation of plumbing/drainage and trade waste related matters to ensure compliance with conditions and legislation under the direction of the Coordinator Hydraulics.
The position is within a team environment which consists of Plumbing Inspectors, Senior Plumbing Inspectors, the Functional Lead Hydraulics, the Coordinator Hydraulics, and the Team Manager Planning Assessment. The position also works in a broader multi-discipline section including infrastructure, social, heritage, urban design and open space planning where collaboration is essential in making informed land use decisions. The position requires good communication skills and negotiation with a variety of stakeholders to balance land use outcomes for the City.
About you
To be considered for this role you will need:
- Relevant plumbing/drainage licences and endorsements.
- Thorough knowledge of the Plumbing and Drainage Act and associated regulation, codes, and standards.
- Working knowledge of other related legislation, i.e. Local Government Act, Building Act, Environmental Protection Act, Water Act, Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act and prescribed parts of the Queensland Development Code.
- Ability to provide sound technical advice to government agencies, representative groups, general public, development industry, Council departments and other stakeholders on plumbing/drainage and trade waste issues.
- Ability to review publications, changes to legislation and changes in technology with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Working knowledge of Council’s Planning Scheme.
- Current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence.
