Work flexibly from either Brisbane or one of our regional centres; Cairns, Gold Coast, Mackay, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Townsville, Sunshine Coast (subject to office availability).
Key Outcomes and Accountabilities
The aim of this role is to:
- Provide a high level of technical advice to consumers, internal customers, stakeholders, and industry groups relating to plumbing and drainage work in the state of Queensland by interpreting and providing advice on legislation, standards, policies, guidelines, and practices.
- Support the Manager Services Trades Unit, to provide services to other areas of QBCC as directed through the provision of advice and assistance in technical plumbing and drainage related matters.
- Undertake fire audits and licence checks associated with plumbing and drainage work, including undertaking site inspections for the purpose of ensuring licensing and technical requirements of work performed is being adhered to.
Candidate Attributes
- Interpret and apply contemporary plumbing and drainage standards, practices, legislation, and codes within the construction industry.
- Use, skill, and knowledge to undertake high level and complex regulatory inspections regarding plumbing and drainage matters, in a contentious environment.
- Have the ability to use an evidence-based approach with a focus on solutions.
Qualification/Technical Requirements (Mandatory)
Hold- an unrestricted plumbing and drainage licence with the QBCC and issued under the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018.
Be eligible and/or hold relevant endorsements associated with the Occupational Plumbing and Draining licence:
- Backflow Prevention (may be obtained within one year of obtaining the role)
Solar and Heat Pump Hot Water (may be obtained within one year of obtaining the role)
Thermostatic Mixing Valves (may be obtained within one year of obtaining the role)
On-Site Sewerage Facility Maintenance (may be obtained within one year of obtaining the role)
CERT IV in Domestic Wastewater and Environmental Plumbing (or equivalent through knowledge or experience in previous roles) - may be obtained within one (1) year of commencement in role.
CERT IV in Plumbing Services (or equivalent). Work safely in the Construction Industry (White Card).
Current Queensland Drivers Licence - (Class C - Motor Vehicle).
