About the Role
Reporting directly to head of operations of Sydney. This role is responsible for ensuring daily operations run smoothly within the Sydney depot. This role involves a high degree of strategic planning, day to day operational support and on the job problem solving to mitigate challenges and minimize disruption.
Key responsibilities include:
Reporting directly to head of operations of Sydney. Involved in high level strategic planning and operational support to manage the entire operations of Aramex Sydney
Providing high level support and assistance to general manager, head of operations and head of finance in decision making.
Maintaining communication and driving the human resources in all stages of fleet and depot operations to achieve high performance.
Developing and implementing operational and financial procedures to be used by depot and fleet operations with the goal to maximise service level standards while staying in line with the budget and maintaining safety standards.
Managing overall fleet of more than 200 courier drivers in Sydney through senior area manager and area managers (area manager/senior area manager job roles listed above under regional franchise manger)
Overseeing all couriers, and related assets, including their operations, conditions, external and internal policy compliance, and overall performance.
Negotiating and approving contracts with secondary fleet providing companies (i.e., outside hire companies) for optimum courier resource management
Liaising with labour hire companies to fill depot operational gaps for FOCs and forklift drivers.
Providing information and forecasting to senior management to prepare operational budget by head of finance.
Leading, assisting, and coaching area managers to achieve expected KPIs – on time delivery/pick up, meeting service level agreement of customers, customer issue resolution times, optimum courier utilization and performance, safety and compliance standards of the business.
Resolving major courier fleet issues
Managing of depot operations of a large-scale company that processes more than 50,000 parcels every day.
Maintaining communication and control through all phases of the journey of goods (receiving orders, pick up from sender, transportation to facility, processing at facility and delivery to receiver) including the production of management reports and statistical and unit cost analysis.
Planning, booking, and communicating with Linehaul (Linehaul | Linehaul.com.au | Trucking Australia Wide | Interstate Linehaul) and other truck companies to implement transportation schedules of pick-ups and drop offs locally and nationally.
Generating operational reports at end of day to measure fleet performance and depot operation performance. Submitting reports to senior management and head office with suggestions and plan to improve performance and reduce inefficiencies.
Monitoring, correcting, coaching, and improving couriers, administrative staff and area mangers for improved performance and efficiency.
Maintaining close relationship with high profile customers sending shipments through Aramex by liaising with them to achieve set DIFOT (delivered in full on time), organise desired transportation schedules, transporting and storing goods in conditions that maintains their quality, and handling complaints. (Example big customers who deal with Aramex Sydney - Yusen Logistics, Just Wines Australia, Naked Wines, Qantas Wines, DAI post, Parcel freight logistics -PFL, Amazon etc.)
Provide leadership guidance to the supervisor to draw load plans and resource allocations for incoming volumes.
Leading, managing and directing the administrative and functional freight handling department of the depot and customer service team regarding all customer enquiries relating to pick up escalations, delivery enquiries, and forecast incoming volumes.
Approval of courier and operational personnel payroll and contractor invoices.
Sydney automation project committee leader - providing high level strategic planning and research support to senior management for upcoming Sydney automation project in March 2023 (10 million USD value)
Representing the company in national conventions, public seminars, marketing campaigns, to promote the programs and policies in place. Multiple public seminars and marketing campaigns held across Sydney throughout the year at multiple locations. Complying and promoting a safe workplace culture for all stakeholders of the business.
Job Requirements (Experience & Education)
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field would be beneficial.
+2 Years experience in a supervisory or management role within the courier industry or a similar logistics environment. This could be roles such as team leader, operations supervisor, or assistance Operations Manager.
Familiarity with courier/transport industry software and enterprise systems (e.g. Courier Management Systems, GPS Tracking Support Systems and WMS)
Proven track record of meeting complex operational KPIs and cost-efficiency targets
Experience in handling stakeholder inquires and resolving issues effectively.
Strong leadership attributes with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
