About Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV)
The PMCV seeks to improve the educational and training opportunities available to support the welfare and career development of prevocational doctors who have recently graduated or commenced work in the Victorian Health system.
Through our work, we aspire to promote safe, high quality and accessible healthcare and a sustainable, highly motivated and effective junior medical workforce. Our primary areas of work include accreditation, education and professional development, allocation and placement service, and support for the professional and personal wellbeing of doctors in training.
PMCV is approved as a Prevocational (PGY1/PGY2) training accreditation authority. The purpose of prevocational medical training is:
To develop, monitor and evaluate accreditation standards and processes for the provision of prevocational Medical Education and training and for promotion of junior doctor wellbeing and safe quality patient care.
In Victoria, prevocational training programs and posts must be accredited by PMCV prior to the commencement of the post within the health facility. PMCV is authorised to monitor standards to ensure patient safety and high-quality clinical training for prevocational doctors.
PMCV monitors the education and training provided to prevocational doctors across a four-year accreditation cycle. The structured Accreditation review processes include survey visits (every four years), mid-cycle reviews (every two years) and the Conditions Monitoring Program (CMP).
About the role
PMCV is seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Education Officer to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Manager of Accreditation Services to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the PMCV Accreditation program for prevocational medical training by:
- Ensuring Prevocational Medical Trainees (PGY1 and PGY2) accreditation functions delegated by the Medical Board of Australia are delivered effectively and efficiently: ensuring standards are met, reviewing policies and procedures, arranging accreditation visits, supporting accreditation teams and assisting in the preparation of survey reports.
- Providing overall coordination and management of the PMCV MEO and Clinical Educators Network and ad hoc working groups;
- Undertaking report writing and data analysis in relation to accreditation activities as well as Board reports.
- Travel to health facilities across Victoria will be required.

Reporting Line: The position reports to the PMCV Accreditation Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervisory responsibilities
About you:
Essential:
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, including a demonstrated customer- service and problem-solving approach to dealing with colleagues and junior medical staff.
- Understanding of junior medical staff education and training requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of facilitating the provision of pastoral and welfare care
- An appropriate undergraduate or postgraduate qualification (nursing or allied health) and/or equivalent relevant experience in prevocational Medical Education.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team working towards a common objective.
- Highly developed analytical and evaluative skills
- Demonstrated organisational ability including the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Well-developed skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience in a health care environment preferably Medical Education or workforce
Desirable:
- Understanding of the requirements of the revised AMC National Framework for Prevocational Medical Training
