We encourage learning, exploration, imagination, and creativity, opening up possibilities for all Victorians.About the OpportunityThe Policy and Risk Adviser is responsible for supporting State Library Victoria's Policy and Risk framework, in accordance with Victorian Government requirements and recommendations, to facilitate compliance and support achievement of the Library's strategic priorities.This is a crucial role in providing high-quality research, policy advice, and Risk management expertise to ensure the effective governance of risk, privacy, policy, and compliance matters within the organisation.The Senior Policy and Risk Adviser is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:
  • Implement a streamline process for coordinating risk assessment activities across the organisation.
  • Support robust privacy policies aligned with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate the impact of privacy risks on the organisation.
  • Improve privacy management frameworks.
  • Foster effective collaboration with stakeholders through facilitation of meetings and communication channels.
  • Maintain comprehensive registers to support informed decision-making and compliance with standards and regulations.
About YouThe ideal candidate comes with a deep understanding of risk management principles, privacy regulations, policy development processes, and compliance frameworks relevant to the Library's operations.In addition, you will come to us with:
  • Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, information management, risk management, policy, law, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in policy development, risk management, and privacy compliance, preferably within a similar organisational context.
  • Demonstrated practical working experience with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices related to risk, privacy, and policy governance.
  • A documented track record of stakeholder management through strong analytical, research, as well as communication through articulating complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple tasks, work effectively under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with diverse and multi-disciplinary stakeholder engagement, including facilitation and collaboration across various organisational functions.
