Job description

Who is Lifeline Tasmania?

After more than four decades of service to the Tasmanian community, we remain steadfastly committed to our vision of a resilient Tasmania free of suicide.

Lifeline has been operating in Tasmania since 1973, commencing as two chapters (Lifeline North West and Lifeline Hobart) which merged in 2012 to form Lifeline Tasmania.

Lifeline Tasmania is now a single organisation incorporated in Tasmania, with state-wide reach and community connections.

Lifeline Tasmania’s values of Respect, Care and Support, Optimism, Inclusion and Social Leadership provide a framework of behaviours that guide the way we interact with each other, our clients and the community.

The Opportunity

  • part-time position (0.4 FTE / 30.4hrs per fortnight) for an initial 6 month period.
  • located in beautiful Bellerive Quay
  • flexible working arrangements
  • salary packaging

Lifeline Tasmania's Policy Development Officer will be responsible for overseeing an organisation wide project, incorporating a review and update of our policy framework.

Working under the direction of our People and Capability Manager, the Policy Development Officer will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing the organisation’s policy framework to ensure compliance with both current and emerging regulatory requirements;
  • Identifying gaps and updating or developing policies, procedures and template documents in consultation with Managers / Coordinators, client groups and external stakeholders, where appropriate;
  • Reviewing and updating all policies, procedures, forms and making recommendations regarding Lifeline Tasmania documentation (including collateral, web pages and social media) to ensure language is diverse and inclusive;
  • Mapping the various frameworks concurrently with the ability to see how they overlap and interconnect.

All about you…

Experienced in researching, analysing and developing policies, you will possess a sound knowledge of contemporary policy frameworks.

Whether working cohesively as part of a team, or working autonomously, you show initiative and possess solid decision-making skills.

Your excellent oral and written communication skills combined with high level interpersonal and relationship management skills, allow you to build networks both within and external to the organisation.

You are a whizz at mapping your priorities in order to meet deadlines and objectives and have a proven ability to manage projects with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.

Knowledge of, or experience working within, the Not-for-Profit Sector and the ability to travel intrastate would also be considered desirable in this position.

If this sounds like the perfect opportunity to kick start your 2024, get in touch with us today!
