Policy Officer
- $116,223 per annum + superannuation

About the role
WorkSafe Victoria is looking for an outstanding Policy Officer to join the Operational Systems, Policy & Compliance (OSPC) team as part of the wider Prevention, Strategy & Planning division.
The Policy Officer is responsible for the development, monitoring and review of operational policies and procedures to ensure a sound and consistent approach is taken to operational activities and to maintain the integrity, relevance and accuracy of the Field Guide and any other relevant manuals. This will include investigating and researching issues and recommending principles for adoption into operational policy and procedures.
The Policy Officer works with stakeholders to develop and operationalise planned improvements or initiatives into an industry or stakeholder group, business unit or whole organisation.
Key Accountabilities
- Stakeholder Liaison and Management: You will work with stakeholder groups such as subject matter experts and field representatives to seek their input and to develop, implement and review operational policies and procedures, to maintain the integrity, relevance and accuracy of the Field Guide and any other relevant manuals.
- Stakeholder Issue resolution and advice: You will work predominantly with internal stakeholders in this role, seeking to identify their needs in relation to the development and/or review of operational policies and procedures and provide advice on the best options to resolve those in a timely manner.
- Development of Plans: You will participate in the development and scoping of project or initiative plans as required with others.
- Monitor and coordinate Progress and Plan Implementation: You will coordinate the delivery of new or revised operational policy and procedures across Health and Safety Operations according to agreed project or implementation plans.
- Research and Analysis: You will investigate and research issues required to inform decision making of a working party / project team or other stakeholders.

About you
You are an experienced Policy Officer who wants to make a difference. You will possess technical expertise and knowledge of the operational environment and the particular business or industry sector. You will have a high level of communication skills (written and oral), including facilitation of groups, the ability to give advice and information and to be able to interpret existing legislation and policy. Additonally, you will posses:
- Ability to undertake effective research and analyse material
- Understanding of project management methodologies
- Experience in the preparation of project plans, agendas, minutes, reports and presentations
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and establish working relationships with stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop and implement multi-faceted programs / systems/procedures
- Ability to align activities to organisational goals
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and to work autonomously with limited guidance
Qualifications
- A relevant qualification in OHS or Policy is highly desired but not mandatory.
