About the opportunity
The Sydney School of Health Sciences is committed to educating people-centric physiotherapists through a 'scaffolded' degree structure that helps build clinical experience over time. Applied research in Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney is aimed at improving evidence-based treatment and prevention strategies to improve the lives of people with physical disorders or disabilities. Our staff support higher-degree research candidates to develop research expertise.
The school is in a period of exciting and significant investment by the Faculty of Medicine and Health. In order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, the University is seeking academics who are passionate about improving health outcomes and/or health equity in the local, national and global communities, who are committed to teaching and research, and are a team player, ready to contribute across a broad field of academic activities. These positions offer an opportunity to develop and contribute to education and teaching in physiotherapy as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
We are looking to onboard three Post Graduate Fellows who are currently enrolled as PhD students at the University of Sydney in a fixed-term capacity – the incumbent will be located in the Susan Wakil Health building on the Camperdown Campus.
The is an education focused (up to 70%) position and offers an opportunity to dedicate the majority of their contribution to education in Physiotherapy as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Undertake teaching in the discipline of Physiotherapy, contributing to outstanding teaching and learning outcomes
support the development of high-quality teaching and learning experiences, which meet the University’s expectations and standards for education
participate in workshops and activities that support your development as an educator
contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled
contribute to furthering the university and faculty’s strategic agenda.
About you
Be a current PhD student at the University of Sydney, with previous training and experience in Physiotherapy
be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the subject matter within the discipline of Physiotherapy
emerging experience in conducting original research and / or engaging in scholarly activity
interest in developing skills in teaching and learning, or possible previous experience in teaching within an established program or in clinically related continuing professional development courses
experience in participation as a team member in clinical or educational activities
a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the discipline and higher education sector.
