We are seeking to fill the position of Poultry Senior Farm Manager. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, possess a strong work ethic, and be a team player.
Based at our Poultry Farm in Bagshot, Victoria 3551; 30 minutes from Bendigo in Victoria, and reporting to the Poultry Operations Manager, the Poultry Senior Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of commercial egg production operation and ensuring optimal daily performance.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the rearing and laying processes to ensure maximum egg production and quality.
- Develop and enforce strict biosecurity protocols to prevent disease outbreaks and maintain flock health.
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and regulations, prioritising the well-being of the birds.
- Lead, motivate, and mentor farm staff to achieve operational goals and maintain a positive work environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and training to ensure health and safety regulations compliance.
- Implement quality control measures to uphold product standards and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee maintenance activities for equipment, facilities, and infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Supervise egg packing operations on the KYs and coordinate timely delivery of eggs to the packing floor, maintaining freshness and egg quality standards.
- Monitor ongoing expenses related to feed, labour, utilities, equipment maintenance, veterinary care, and other operational costs.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including production data, inventory levels, maintenance logs, and safety incidents.
- Any other tasks as directed by the Poultry Operations Manager or their designated representative.
- Bachelor degree qualification or 5+ years relevant and related professional experience;
- Successful experience in poultry animal husbandry;
- Knowledge of egg production;
- Understanding and discipline to adhere to the required animal welfare guidelines and regulations;
- Compliance with all biosecurity, WHS and operational requirements;
- Effective organisational and time management skills.
- Experience in, and the commitment to, positive staff management, development, and team building.
- Strong communication skills, ability to write reports and correspondence, ability to speak clearly and effectively with internal and external contacts.
- Current C class open driver’s license.
You may be required to work reasonable overtime to meet operational demands. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and a pre-employment functional capacity evaluation.
You must not have any birds, pigs or poultry at your place of residence.
