We are recognised for our culture, innovation and industry-leading development of infrastructure, mining assets and green energy initiatives.Our OpportunityWork Location: RedcliffeRoster: Monday to FridayFortescue WAE is committed to building thriving communities by delivering social, environmental, and economic benefits.In support of Fortescue's strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Heavy Industry projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet.Based out our new Redcliffe facility and reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer Heavy Industry, we are presently looking for an experienced Traction Engineer.Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver Traction systems solutions for Rail Locomotives or Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner
  • Review and validation of various Traction System engineering designs / specifications and associated components
  • Providing technical assistance on Electrical / Electronics Systems related works being carried out
  • Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives
  • Review / mark up engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes
  • Resolution of technical and design issues
  • Proactively deliver on the company's stretch targets
  • Ensure compliance to the project management process by project owners
  • Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects
  • Providing regular updates to the Principal Electrical Engineer including work progress, risks, and priorities
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Electrical /Traction systems engineering
  • Strong Product design and development experience and background
  • Electrical, Electronics Engineering degree, preferably a qualification in Power Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Experience with Rail Locomotives / Heavy mobile equipment Traction Systems is desirable
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian / International standards and regulations associated with electrical design, installation, and testing
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams
  • High commitment to safety
  • Excellent interpersonal awareness skills with ability to work well in a team
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
  • Results driven, responsible and accountable
  • Capable of prioritising and delivering work in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to adjust to change quickly and adapt to new requirements
