The Role: Yurika has a
permanent
opportunity for a
Power Systems Engineer
with experience in power system studies and simulations across renewables and/or conventional power generation and is inviting applications from internal and external applicants. The opportunity is open to any major EQL location with
Townsville
or
Brisbane
as preference to enhance collaboration within the team to learn and develop together.
The
Power Systems Engineer
sits within the wider Engineering & Design team and is supported by a smaller team of Grid Connection specialists with plenty of experience across the Power Generation and Transmission sector. You, along with the existing team, will be responsible for the delivery of connection studies in
PSS/E ,
PSCAD
and
PowerFactory
for new generation infrastructure connections to the NEM.
What does this look like day to day?
You will be completing
modelling
that can be connected to AEMO grid models, building
simulation models
and
simulation studies
to ensure generation projects and their connections comply with the performance requirements of the National Electricity Rules. You will be providing fit-for-purpose concept designs for proposed new connection projects, and modelling support for the design of HV substation and line projects.
With flexi-working and a 9 or 10 day fortnight in place, the salary band is from
$140,751
to
$161,746
for 9 days and
$159 049
to
$182,774
for 10 days + 12.75% superannuation .

About You: In addition to your
Bachelor of Electrical Engineering , you will have
considerable connection planning
and
study
experience as a Power Systems Engineer. You are familiar with dynamic studies in
PSS/E
and/or
PSCAD . Familiarity with
PowerFactory
or
EMPTP-RV
would be an advantage.
This role operates within a time-critical environment, so the ability to work accurately and with pace is key. You will be adaptable to change, and are results-focused to drive sustainable outcomes for customers, stakeholders, and the community.
Finally, you have demonstrable experience understanding the NEM and remain up to date with associated rules and regulations.
