With the rollout of our 20-Year Master Plan and a number of exciting projects on the horizon, we’re thrilled to expand and evolve our workforce to position us for continued growth into the future.ABOUT THE ROLE...Zoos SA is looking for a vibrant and experienced PR Manager to join the Marketing and Fundraising team permanently and full-time.We seek a high-performing individual responsible for managing all public relations and maintaining a positive and strategic narrative for Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park across all media and communications. Specifically, this role manages PR, media, and communications to build awareness of Zoos SA’s conservation efforts and drive attendance to Adelaide and Monarto Safari Park. As the main media contact, this role will manage all media dealings, be they planned or emergency in nature.Along with media responsibilities, the role also involves providing other internal and external communications. These communications are developed in conjunction with departmental leaders and executed accordingly.This is a key role in brand promotion and will have the following key responsibilities:
- In conjunction with departmental leaders, develop communication-based collateral for marketing and fundraising campaigns, including but not limited to media releases, website content, social media content, newsletters, etc.
- Manage the hosting of media while on-site at all properties and ensure media understand the restrictions necessary when dealing with animals on site, in line with Zoos SA Work Health and Safety Guidelines
- Manage routine requests for information both internally and externally
- Manage and prepare media releases
- Manage issues and crises from a public relations perspective in line with the Zoos SA Crisis Communications Plan
- Maintain contact with the media regularly and plan appropriate media opportunities to promote Zoos SA.
- Demonstrated experience in managing the public relations function for an organisation that has frequent exposure to the media
- Strong written and verbal communication skills that can be employed from board-level to entry-level positions.
- An ability to influence and negotiate in order to meet expected outcomes whilst ensuring ‘buy-in’ from those within an organisation
- Availability to work some weekends, nights and public holidays as required
- The ability to write for different communication mediums, altering the style accordingly
- Tertiary studies in Media or Marketing
- Training in staff management /leadership
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work under pressure to achieve deadlines.
