Position Description
Duties include:
· Ensuring that the clinic maintains RACGP standards at all times.
· Lead the practice team through accreditation every three years.
· Develop and maintain practice policies and procedures, including policies for privacy and confidentiality and cyber security.
· Maintain safe work environment by eliminating/ preventing environmental hazards where possible and act appropriately to produce safe outcomes.
· Collect, document and report data accurately and comprehensively.
· Lead reception staff meetings and GP/ practice principal meetings.
· Recruit and train new reception and nursing staff and assist the practice principals in the recruitment of GP’s and locums.
· Perform and document staff appraisals yearly for reception and nursing staff.
· Coordinate annual leave and long service leave for reception and nursing staff.
· Develop receptionist and nursing rosters and arrange sick and annual leave cover.
· Liaise with service providers to ensure the smooth running of the clinic including those responsible for IT, clinical waste collection, cleaning, and maintenance of the property.
· Create and implement quality improvement activities with the assistance of the clinic team.
· Develop and maintain equipment registers and the provision of the maintenance of clinic equipment.
· Manage patient and staff complaints and feedback.
· Maintain accounting systems for all income and expenses and allocations to principals as appropriate.
· Payment of staff wages, superannuation and workers compensation.
· Maintain debt collection procedures for unpaid patient accounts.
· Provide reception cover as needed.
· Other duties as requested by the practice principals.
Essential competencies and skills:
· An understanding of the requirements of running a business and in particular a medical clinic.
· A strong understanding of Medicare and DVA.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills when communicating with the practice team, patients, and other stakeholders.
· Time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
· Leadership and team building skills and experience.
· Ability to devise and review systems for operation efficiency and control.
· Commitment to continuing professional development.
· Competency in decision making processes.
· Use of computer programs such as Best Practice, Word, Excel, Xero
· Past experience managing a GP clinic preferred.
