  • Clerk Grade 11/12, base salary ($139,787 - $161,663), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

These roles support the General Counsel and the Director, Legal Operations in a wide range of administrative and management responsibilities relating to the efficient and effective operations of DCJ Legal and the strategy for DCJ Legal’s future structure and innovation. This is achieved through continued innovation and enhanced service delivery as a legal service provider to the Department and for the benefit of the public, effective knowledge management, consistent business intelligence, utilisation of technology and data analytics via the use of DCJ Legal’s practice management system, staff engagement and development and a wide range of reporting activities.

What you’ll do

DCJ Legal supports and engages collaboratively with other DCJ divisions and cluster agencies and has a corporate cluster focus responsible for the provision of legal and administrative assistance and advice to the Attorney General, as First Law Officer of the Crown, as well as other Cluster Ministers and Departmental Executive.

There are three ongoing roles at this level available, each required to meet all relevant capabilities set out in the role description, attached, for a Senior/Practice Manager clerk grade 11/12, but each with a varied day to day focus as follows:

  1. Senior/Practice Manager, Strategy, Analytics and Reporting: this role will lead a team and be contributing to formulating strategic goals for DCJ Legal as well as the delivery of budgeting and financial reporting accountabilities with support from subject matter experts, in order for DCJ Legal to achieve compliance with DCJ policies, statutory requirements and external regulators. The role will also focus on business operations and innovations.

Ideal candidates will have experience in the use of the technology for financial and budget reporting and experience in strategic operations and project delivery.

  1. Senior/Practice Manager, Knowledge, Information and Engagement: this role will lead a team and will focus on knowledge management within DCJ Legal, engagement with staff and stakeholders via induction, training and other external activities, and the use of technology and digital innovation in DCJ Legal to improve operations and meet reporting standards and accountabilities via the utilisation of available resourcing.

Ideal candidates will have experience in utilising technology and relevant software programs to deliver operational results with support from subject matter experts, and experience in Legal Operations including coordinating knowledge management projects and staff training and induction.

  1. Senior/Practice Manager, Executive Operations: this role will lead a team and will contribute to a range of projects and administrative responsibilities to support the General Counsel and the Director, Legal Operations in implementing effective practice management procedures within DCJ Legal and across the Cluster to ensure streamlined approval and allocations procedures, contribute to the development and monitoring of resources and lead effective communications with key internal and external stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will have experience in business and executive operations and support, as well as excellent communication skills and experience managing communications with senior executive stakeholders.

What we’re looking for

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Working knowledge and experience of appropriate finance systems and software programs including excel, for the purposes of processing financial transactions and reporting.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of Government financial and accounting policies and procedures including an understanding of Accrual Accounting guidelines, Treasurers Directions, Public Finance and Audit Act, or the ability to acquire such knowledge within a reasonable period.

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
