Women’s Obstetric and Gynaecology Specialists (www.womensogs.com.au) is seeking a highly motivated, organised and proactive midwife to join our team.
Located at The Women’s in Parkville, we are a well-established private practice consisting of five female Specialist Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who work together as a team sharing patient care and expertise to provide 24-hour Consultant care for our patients. We also recently had a specialist gynaecologist join our team. Supported by four midwives and a small team of administrative staff, we aim to provide high quality care for our patients at all times.
Currently we have a position available for a highly motivated midwife to join our team for 3 days per week - Monday, Tuesday, and Friday - with the opportunity to work additional days to cover annual leave.
In our busy environment it is important to be a self-starter, who shows initiative and steps in to help out when required. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Patient guidance and support, expertise in both antenatal and postnatal areas
- Administration of Anti-D & performing CTGs
- Assist with minor procedures such as IUD insertions, wound care and removal of sutures
- Conducting independent antenatal consultations when doctors are busy or called away
- Arrange specialist referrals for endocrinologists, psychiatrists
- Review pathology and radiology results
- Availability on Monday, Tuesday, & Friday
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Knowledge of best practice in maternity services and ideally some gynaecology experience (this is not essential)
- Ability to plan and coordinate patient care and liaise with other midwives and doctors especially during busy periods
- Ability to manage competing work priorities appropriately, use resources effectively and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both patients and colleagues in a small working environment which demands strong interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy and tech savvy with experience in Genie Solutions highly regarded (not essential)
- Midwife not expected to work independently but be part of a team in a private Obstetrician-led practice.
